She played a key role, with Ms. Culliton, in developing and launching the Genome News Network (GenomeNewsNetwork.org), one of the first fully online news magazines about genomics. At a time when scientists were producing the first sequence of the human genome, GNN wrote about human, animal, and agricultural genomics for a lay audience. In addition, it created a unique special section about genomics and art. Previously, Ms. Rose and Ms. Culliton worked together at Nature Publishing, where they oversaw the launch of three new scientific journals: nature genetics; nature structural biology; and nature medicine. Each has become the leading journal in its discipline. Ms. Rose acquired important insights into Washington policy-making during her tenure as Special Assistant in the Office of the President, Federal Government Relations for the University of California system. Previously, she made extensive use of her expertise in business development and meeting management in various commercial enterprises.
